Redeemer Congregation continues to make progress on many fronts. Council met this Saturday and one major topic of discussion was the implementation of a stewardship plan. This has been a difficult topic for our congregation as we have not had a consistent professional leadership to give grounding and support to such an effort in decades. We have now been without a pastor for several years and yet our ministry continues to grow. We feel confident that we can discuss the costs of ministry with current members and those considering joining. We created a weekly budget and a three-tiered giving model which could support a mnistry from our current membership. Several council members committed to supporting the giving model immediately and we will begin working on resources to provide to members and prospective members to guide them in considering their gifts to their church.
Attendance contines to be strong. 20 were in church this week, including three visitors (two repeat). In many cases, those attending this week were different from those present the previous week, which represents a broader base membership.
The two repeat visitors are from the area Liberian community. Most of our current African membership are from East Africa. This may be an new outreach area for us. It is within our congregation's mission to welcome and serve all who walk through our door and to reach out to others as well.
